Law Enforcement & Government Data Request Guidelines
Last updated: July 2026
These Guidelines explain how Telenow AI Technologies Private Limited ("Telenow", "we", "us", or "our"), the entity that operates the Telenow platform, responds to requests from law enforcement agencies, courts, and other public authorities for user data processed through our Services. They apply to all such requests, including requests relating to data we receive through the WhatsApp Business Platform and other Meta platforms.
1. We require valid legal process
We disclose user data only where we are compelled to do so by valid, legally binding process issued under applicable law, or where a recognized exception (such as a genuine emergency, see Section 6) applies. To be actionable, a request must:
- be issued by an authority with proper jurisdiction over us;
- cite the specific legal authority relied upon (for example, a summons or production order under the applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000, or an order of a court of competent jurisdiction);
- identify the specific user, account, or data sought with reasonable particularity; and
- be served through the channel described in Section 7.
2. Legal review of every request
Every request is reviewed before any data is disclosed. Our review confirms that the request is legally valid, originates from an authorized public authority, falls within that authority's jurisdiction, and is properly scoped. Requests that are legally deficient, unclear, or improperly served are rejected or returned for correction.
3. Challenging unlawful or overbroad requests
Where we consider a request to be unlawful, overbroad, vague, disproportionate, or otherwise inconsistent with applicable law or users' rights, we will push back — including by seeking clarification, requesting that the request be narrowed, or challenging it through the appropriate legal or judicial channels before responding.
4. Data minimization
We disclose only the minimum data necessary to comply with a valid request. We do not volunteer data beyond the specific scope of the legal process, and where a request can be satisfied with a narrower set of information, we provide only that narrower set.
5. Documentation and records
We maintain records of the government and law enforcement requests we receive, our responses, the data disclosed (if any), the legal basis relied upon, and the internal personnel and reasoning involved in each decision. These records support accountability and periodic review.
6. Emergency requests
In cases involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, we may review and respond to an emergency request on an expedited basis, consistent with applicable law, while still applying the review and minimization principles described above.
7. How authorities may submit requests
Valid legal process may be directed to [email protected], addressed to the Nodal / Grievance Officer, Telenow AI Technologies Private Limited. We do not accept requests for user data from the general public through this channel.
8. Notice to users
Where permitted by law and not prohibited by the terms of the request, we may notify affected users before disclosing their data so that they may seek to protect their rights. We may delay or withhold notice where the law requires, or in genuine emergencies.
9. Questions
Questions about these Guidelines may be sent to [email protected].
